Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered Suspension for two games

hi-res-185938320-cristiano-ronaldo-of-real-madrid-cf-argues-with-the_crop_northReal Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was handed a two-game suspension by La Liga after racking up a red card on Saturday against Cordoba, Spain’s AS.com reports.

The Portugal forward has been suspended for Real’s next two La Liga matches, against Real Sociedad and Sevilla, but will be available for the derby with Atlético Madrid.

Ronaldo was unable to make an impact in the Córdoba match and his frustration led to him lashing out with his hand at José Crespo, which the referee missed, and then minutes later kicking out at the Brazilian Edimar for which he was sent off.

In Ronaldo’s defense, at least he apologized for his barbaric behavior immediately after the match last Saturday.

The two-match ban won’t affect Ronaldo’s ranking this season as the top goal-scorer in La Liga. The FIFA Ballon d’Or winner has 28 goals in La Liga play this year, while second- and third-place scorers Lionel Messi and Neymar, both of Barcelona, still trail with 21 goals and 14 goals, respectively.

Real won 2-1 thanks to a late Gareth Bale penalty and Ronaldo apologised on Twitter after the game.

Edimar wants Spanish football association not to hand Cristiano Ronaldo any further sanctions

Cordoba defender Edimar has said he holds no grudge against Cristiano Ronaldo after the Real Madrid star was sent off for kicking out at him during Madrid’s 2-1 victory on Saturday.

Cordoba defender Edimar has called on the Spanish football association not to hand Cristiano Ronaldo any further sanctions following the Real Madrid star’s red card. A frustrated Ronaldo received a straight red card after the incident, which happened with the score level at 1-1, but Gareth Bale later ensured that Carlo Ancelotti’s team would take all three points. The three-time Ballon d’Or winner was dismissed with eight minutes remaining of Saturday’s clash in Andalusia after aiming a kick at Edimar.

The referee’s report did not describe the incident as “violent conduct,” meaning Ronaldo will likely receive just a one-game ban. “I forgive Cristiano Ronaldo. I hold no grudge,” Edimar told AS. “It was not an attempt at aggression. He hit my legs and my mouth, nothing more. What I mean is that those responsible understand that things happen on a football pitch. He should receive a normal suspension, nothing more. I don’t want to hurt him and I hope that he remains the best player in the world.”

Ronaldo apologized for the incident via social media shortly after the match. The Portugal international will now miss his side’s next clash with David Moyes’ Real Sociedad, and an additional two-game ban would see him sit out the match with Sevilla and the Madrid derby against city rival and title holder Atletico. A late Gareth Bale penalty secured a 2-1 victory for Liga leader Madrid, leaving the club a point clear of second-place Barcelona.

It was Ronaldo’s fourth red card in La Liga since his 2009 switch to the 10-time European champion.

Zidane thinks Ronaldo should win more Ballon d’Or titles than Messi

Iconic French midfielder Zinedine Zidane believes that Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will finish his career with more Ballon d’Or titles than his Barcelona rival, Lionel Messi.

The Real Madrid star was crowned the world’s best player of 2014 in January for the third time overall, leaving him one behind his Barcelona counterpart.

However, Zidane insists there is more to come from the 29-year-old and feels he can overtake the Argentine when it comes to winning the accolade.

“ Ronaldo will win more Ballons d’Or. ” he told reporters.

“ What he is doing is from another planet. If this continues, he will improve even further and may end up winning more than Messi. ”

The former Madrid star and France international had a lot to say about compatriot Karim Benzema, who he feels is a pivotal player for Los Blancos.

Zidane said: “ He is another very important player. Sometimes it is discussed whether to change to him to a No.9 for Madrid and it’s wrong. All wrong. ”

“ He is not a player who will score 60 goals a year like Cristiano, but thanks to his quality, he links up with everyone and always makes the moves that the team needs.”

“ Very few in the world can do that. ”

Ronaldo has edged ahead of Messi in recent years, as the pair continue to battle for the title of the best player on the planet. In the last season and a half, the Portuguese star has won four major honours, including the Champions League, and scored 87 goals in 77 games.

In contrast, Messi has won nothing, and managed 69 goals in 72 games. Of course, his goal tally his still beyond outstanding, but their differing fortunes emphasises how the momentum has swung between the two over the last 18 months.

A whole series of records have been smashed by Ronaldo since his arrival at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, including the most goals scored in a single season (60), most hat-tricks in a season (7), fastest player to 250 official goals, and the first player to score in eight consecutive games.

“ Me as the future first-team coach? We will see. ” said Zidane. ” For now, I’m with the Castilla and I’m fine. we will see what happens in the future. ”

Cristiano Ronaldo hits a double as Real Madrid stays ahead of the Ranking

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice either side of a Gareth Bale strike as Real Madrid ran out 3-0 winners over Getafe in La Liga on Sunday.

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo congratulates his teammate Gareth Bale after scoring a goal against Getafe during their Spanish first division soccer match at Colisseum Alfonso Perez stadium in GetafeIt was hardly a vintage performance from the European champions, who have stumbled at the start of 2015 and were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Atlético Madrid on Thursday, and they failed to score in the first half of a La Liga game for the first time this season.

Ronaldo broke the deadlock on a chilly afternoon at the Coliseum in the 63rd minute, clipping the ball in from close range after excellent work from Karim Benzema.

Bale made it 2-0 four minutes later when he finished off a swift break and Ronaldo grabbed his second 11 minutes from time with a powerful header, the Portugal forward’s 28th goal of the campaign in his 17th appearance.

Getafe battled bravely against their glamorous city neighbours, with their goalkeeper Jordi Codina on fine form, and almost pulled a goal back four minutes from time but a shot from Álvaro Vázquez bounced away off a post.

Real, who have a game in hand, have 45 points from 18 matches, with Barça on 41 ahead of their clash at Deportivo La Coruna later on Sunday.

Ronaldo sent a fizzing free-kick just wide of Codina’s right-hand post, but did not have to wait long to double his tally, getting on the end of another brilliant cross from Madrid’s Colombian star to head home and seal a comfortable win for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

Valencia and the champions Atlético, who host the bottom side Granada on Sunday, are level on 38 points, with Valencia ahead on goal difference after Saturday’s 3-2 win at home to Almería.

What?Messi a bigger genius than Ronaldo? What are Capello talking about?

The Russia coach has voiced his admiration for the Argentine attacker, but believes the Madrid man could surpass him due to his problems at club level.

Fabio Capello says Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is a bigger genius than Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo, but believes the Argentine’s difficulties at the Camp Nou side could prove to be a problem in the years to come.

The Portugal star scooped up his third Ballon d’Or at the annual Fifa gala in Zurich on Monday and Capello refuses to rule out the possibility that the 29-year-old will eventually win the prestigious individual award more than his Barcelona nemesis, who lifted it four times in a row.

“Can Ronaldo win more Ballons d’Or than Messi? It’s a very interesting battle. Messi is a bigger genius than Ronaldo, but he is having some problems at his club and that could cause some problems,” Capello toldCOPE.

“Cristiano is very solid and mentally very strong. He wants to become the best ever and plays in an amazing team.

“All his team-mates help him and he in turn helps out the team as well. It’s crucial to have the respect of all your team-mates and to always train well.”

Capello then went on to discuss the future of Messi at Barcelona. The attacker’s future has become the subject of much speculation this season, but the Russia coach feels a transfer is out of the question.

“Barcelona should never sell Messi. How can you sell someone like Messi?

“I saw him play at the weekend. He didn’t have a good start and did not seem to be enjoying himself. And then all of a sudden he awoke and put in a superb performance. Barcelona simply cannot sell a player like him.”

Messi has a contract with Barcelona until June 2018.
